Positive affirmations can be powerful in helping to challenge negative thoughts. It’s not a simple fix and it’s not easy to go from an overwhelmingly negative thought pattern to a totally positive one with affirmations alone, but as part of a holistic approach that includes therapy- they can certainly help!
With the help of clinical psychologist, Sharnade Brown, we have put together a list of affirmations that can help you to stay mindful and find some inner calm.
It is tricky, but once you feel obsessive, overwhelming or negative thought patterns start to arise, try replacing them with the following affirmations.
There are things that I can control, and things that I cannot – I won’t worry about the things I cannot control.
I choose to exist right now in the present.
When challenges arise, I remember that they only bring me closer to my goals and to myself.
All is well right now and if it is not, it will be.
My thoughts are not me.
If I stay calm and focused, I can achieve whatever I put my mind to.
I remain aware and I can see those around me.
I choose to enjoy all of the good things around me.
